Frequently Asked Questions

What is Art Therapy?
Art therapy is an established form of psychotherapy, delivered by trained art therapists.

Who is art therapy for?
Art therapy can help people of all ages and at all stages of life, including those whose life has been affected by difficult personal or cultural experiences, illness and/or disability. You do not need to be skilled in art to benefit from art therapy.

Do you offer in person therapy?
I am currently only offering online and telehealth sessions. Feel free to reach out and get on my in person waiting list.

What if I don’t have art supplies?
We can start with getting creative using your phone to take photos, collecting items for a physical collage, even using pen and paper. Once you decide art therapy is for you and we have assessed what types of materials would work well for you I will either send you to get materials yourself, or send you materials that I think will be supportive to your healing.

What if I don’t like art?
Art is not a requirement for you to work with Illuminated Art Therapy PLLC. If you would like to only do traditional talk therapy Emma Levine is licensed as a mental health counselor as well. Your therapy might be focused on parts work, skills building, and focusing on how your narrative of your life is serving you and how we can create positive change.
